Wait, I’m starting a blog?

So this just happened.

For some time now I’ve been looking for a way to separate myself from who I am to who I want to become. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has done this, but more often than not I’ve made choices that have prioritised the approval of others first. It’s important to remind yourself every so often of what you want for you. Ultimately, I plan to do some great things someday and this is just a small step forward in chasing that vision.

Self-awareness is crucial to your growth. What are you good at? What do you enjoy doing? I’ve thought about writing for a long time but, honestly, I’ve been reluctant to start. There have been excuses, and a whole lot of them. This is a comfort challenge; Tim Ferris once explained that by doing things that make you “marginally uncomfortable”, you realise that when asked “what’s the worst that could happen?” the real answer is “not much”.

Now is the time to do what you really want to do – take those risks whilst you’re young. You’ve got fewer responsibilities holding you back.

Imagine looking back and realising that you spent years of your life doing something, not because of genuine fulfilment, but because it seemed like the safer option.

“You can fail at what you don’t want so you might as well take a chance at doing what you love” – Jim Carrey.

At the end of the day, if this doesn’t work out, what have I really lost – nothing. On the other hand, what have I gained – experience, knowledge, maturity, self-development. At the bare minimum, I gained a new hobby, right?

This is a platform for expression. I won’t ever claim to be an expert on anything I write about – all views are entirely my own and are my opinions. This is purely my perspective on everything from lifestyle, culture, health to politics (and so on). The aim really is to share my experiences, my journey and my voice with you; for you to learn from me and for me to learn just as much from you. I’ve got a long way to go to eventually get to where I want to be in life and I want to bring others along with me. I plan to involve a lot of people in this by featuring their writing on here, so expect to see articles written by many others from their point of view and on topics of their interest. Success is not a competition, it’s a collaboration. I truly believe that.

So thank you for reading this introduction. I genuinely look forward to seeing what this can teach me outside of my other aspirations. I’d be grateful for any support you can show me and for any constructive feedback you can provide, either now or in the future.

Thank you,

Danny Naqvi

  1. Hey Danial!

    Welcome to blogging 🙂

I’d love to invite you to submit a short piece to my blog. I think your perspective and style of writing would be a perfect piece for my project.

It’d also be a great way to get your blog/writing out there.

Please feel free to email me (jennifer@youngandtwenty) with more questions, or take a look at the ‘BEING Young & Twenty’ page on my blog.

    I hope I’ll hear from you 🙂

  2. Hey Danny! Reading this is quite inspirational. Bravo for taking the first step! Takes courage to push yourself to open up your mind and thoughts to others. Just as you said though, there’s nothing to really lose here. Looking forward to exchanging more food for thoughts. No pressure, but really happy you’re started your blog 🙂

  3. I really like the philosophy that if you don’t do it now then when. I can resonate that with my life. Great first blog Danny. Way to go.

    Best Wishes
